For many older adults in Rhode Island, maintaining meaningful social interactions can be difficult. As family members move away and friends lose touch, these connections become strained or lost. That isolation can lead to other challenges, such as mental health issues and ongoing loneliness. While these are frightening prospects, they don’t need to be the case.

At PACE-RI we know the value of behavioral health services. Our team of social workers and clinical staff are trained to provide counseling services to participants who are experiencing social or behavioral difficulties. These professionals take the time to listen to participants’ stories and get to know them personally, so that our team can address the root cause of the problem and work toward a solution. If you or a loved one need help overcoming these type of challenges, call PACE-RI today.

Tailored Dementia Care

Seniors face a unique set of challenges when it comes to navigating social interactions with declining senses. One of the most difficult obstacles to maintaining good behavioral health and connection can be dementia. Along with the cognitive challenges that dementia can pose, it can also disrupt existing relationships and discourage making new ones. As geriatrics experts, the PACE-RI team knows how to help participants suffering with dementia to adjust to these obstacles and continue to socialize to the best of their ability. We serve participants at our health centers in these areas:

  • East Providence, RI
  • Woonsocket, RI
  • Westerly, RI
  • Newport, RI

Though dementia takes many forms, the most common among them is associated with Alzheimer’s Disease. Alzheimer’s causes a range of memory and cognitive issues, but can have serious effects on a person’s behavioral health as well. At PACE-RI, we work directly with participants to address the effects of Alzheimer’s in simple, practical ways. These behavioral health services combine social interaction, physical exercise, memory, and tactile exercises to improve or retain cognitive function over time.

Does your loved one need help to keep themselves mentally fit? The team at PACE-RI is here to help. From Alzheimer’s Disease to depression and anxiety, our program is tailored directly to the needs of each participant. That way, every participant gets the care they need and the health outcomes they deserve.

Mental Health Advocates for You

Mental health is a tough topic to speak about in many cultures. The stigma surrounding mental health issues can feel stifling for those that are forced to suffer in silence. Thankfully, that isn’t the case at PACE-RI. Our clinical staff and social workers know what it takes to tackle mental and behavioral health concerns in a meaningful way. They deal with these issues time and time again. Issues related to things like:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Loneliness
  • Loss and Grief
  • Poor Mental Health

No matter what issues our participants face, we work tirelessly to ensure they are seen and heard. We also know that not every case is the same. So the behavioral health services we offer can change to suit our participants’ needs.

The behavioral health services offered with PACE-RI can make a world of difference in the life of a participant. The challenges of loneliness, isolation, and depression can take a significant toll on the overall health of older adults, and our team works hard to address that. Not only that, we navigate the complex system of Medicare and Medicaid for participants who might otherwise miss out on their deserved benefits. So if you or a loved one is suffering with poor mental health or is socially isolated, call PACE-RI today. Our trained professionals are ready to get every older adult back in the conversation.
