Who We Are

PACE Organization of Rhode Island

PACE-RI is a health plan for adults 55 and older who have chronic health needs but want to remain living at home. Founded in 2005, PACE-RI provides both insurance and medical care, as well as a range of health and social services including adult daycare, rides, and meals. Because of its comprehensive approach, PACE-RI is able to keep its medically complex participants out of nursing homes for over 4 years, on average. PACE-RI serves the entire state (except Block Island and Prudence Island) and 9 out of 10 participants would recommend PACE-RI to family and friends.

HISTORY

PACE originated in San Francisco in 1971 to help families provide home-based, long-term care for their elderly. It became a permanently recognized model of care under both Medicare and Medicaid in 1997 with the passage of the Balance Budget Act. Today, 133 PACE programs operate 264 PACE centers in 31 states, serving over 51,000 participants.
