Accounting Specialist


The Accounting Specialist will be a key player in the monthly close process, including journal entries, P & L analysis, balance sheet account analysis, reconciliations, and other various month-end close G/L procedures. The position reports to the Chief Financial Officer, and will assist management with maintaining accurate financial data, as well as keep management apprised of financial conditions and trends.


  • Oversee daily transactions of Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and General Ledger
  • Preparation and analysis of monthly financial statements
  • Participate in budget process, including compilation and issuance of budget reports
  • Account analysis
  • Participate in annual financial statement and 403(b) plan audits, and act as liaison with outside audit firms
  • Coordinate claims processing with third-party administrator to ensure accurate and timely processing of claims
  • Oversee bi-weekly processing through ADP
  • Enhance and streamline accounting and financial reporting processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 5 years of related experience, required
  • Prior managerial or supervisory experience, required
  • Quickbooks experience, preferred
  • Strong Microsoft Excel application skills and knowledge, required
  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Pro-active independent thinker who seeks ways to improve existing practices
  • Valid driver’s license with ability to travel between sites as necessary
