HR Generalist


The HR Generalist is responsible for performing HR related duties on a professional level under the direction of the HR Manager. The primary areas of responsibility for this position are leaves tracking/communication and recruitment. The HR Generalist will also assist in the areas of benefits administration, employee relations, on-boarding, and policy implementation. This is a salaried position, with a core 40 hour per week schedule, 5 days pers week, 8 hours per day, with flexibility between the hours of 7:30am-5pm, Monday-Friday. Must have HR experience.


  • Accurately tracks employee leaves and communicates with employees when leave exhaustion is approaching
  • Serves as primary HR point of contact for employees out on any type of leave, documenting all communication in standardized format
  • Prepares and processes all workers’ compensation incident reports. Follows up with insurance carrier to discuss claims in a timely manner
  • Processes and maintains all FMLA requests. Prepares FMLA forms and tracking on grid, prepares LOA Forms
  • Researches, develops, and implements effective recruiting strategies to attract a diverse pool of qualified and capable talent for the organization; assists with job posting and advertising process
  • Collaborates with department managers to identify and draft detailed and accurate job descriptions and hiring criteria
  • Oversees preparation of interview questions, ensures interviewing staff are trained on interviewing skills and appropriate questions
  • Attends and participates in job fairs and networking opportunities
  • Assists HR with the administration of the organization’s benefit plan
  • Tracks and sends regular reminders regarding upcoming evaluations and license renewals
  • Ensures employee files are up to date and that filing is done accurately according to established guidelines
  • Completes and submits required annual reports for external agencies, including EEO-1 report, influenza immunization report and others
  • Maintains human resource information system records (ADP) and compiles reports from the database
  • Tracks and prepares reports on HR specific performance metrics. Uses data to drive decision-making

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in HR or related field with 2-3 years of related experience, required
  • ADP experience, preferred
  • Prior leave administration experience, including FMLA, required
  • Prior recruitment experience, required
  • Strong Microsoft Excel application skills and knowledge, required
  • Ability to work within tight timeframes and meet deadlines
  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Pro-active independent thinker who seeks ways to improve existing practices
  • Valid driver’s license with access to reliable transportation to travel within the community and between sites as necessary
